A youth group in the Atiwa district of the Eastern region is angry over the appointment of a district Chief Executive by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
The group calling itself ‘Concerned Youth of Atiwa East’ on Tuesday embarked on a peaceful demonstration in Anyinam calling on President Akufo Addo to elect someone from Atiwa East Constituency as the DCE for Atiwa.
According to the group, for over 16 years since the district was created, all DCEs are appointed from Atiwa West Constituency leaving Atiwa East residents to their fate and creating an impression the constituency is bereft with competent persons.
The Youth are calling on the President to nominate a 2016 parliamentary aspirant of the NPP in Atiwa East constituency for the DCE post.
The leader of the group, Samuel Mireku, said some “greedy bastards” in the NPP are attempting to impose their cronies and friends as DCE hence making unfounded allegations of dual citizenship and fraud against the people’s favourite.
He warned that, the party may collapse in the Constituency if the President heeds to the advice of lobbyists trying to impose their interest on the people of Atiwa.
He appealed to President Akufo Addo to take a firm decision to nominate the right person.
The peaceful demonstration was participated by hundreds of residents mostly NPP supporters clad in red dress and headgears and hoisting several placards to communicate their sentiments.
