Pentecost’s PIWC Michel Camp dedicates new church building

A new church building for the Pentecost International Worship Center (PIWC) of the Church of Pentecost at Michel Camp in the Ashaiman Area has been dedicated.

The ultra-modern building was largely funded through grants received from the COP Headquarters, the Ashaiman Area, individuals, including PIWC Michel Camp.

In all, ¢1,583.047.12 was spent to complete the chapel building.

However, the church building project started in 2011 by the then District Pastor, Pastor Alexander Kumi-Larbi. The current membership stands at 910 out of which 275 are children and the remaining 635 being adults.

The assembly formerly worshipped in an uncompleted building until 2011 when its building project started.

By dint of hard work and commitment, the aforementioned building has been completed under the leadership of Apostle Patrick Kingsley Ennin and Pastor David Amankwaa, the current Resident Minister.

In his sermon, the General Secretary of the Church of Pentecost, Apostle Alexander Nana Yaw Kumi-Larbi stressed the need for church members to be properly accommodated in a serene atmosphere.

He added that the Presbytery would continue to encourage the congregation to put up similar structures to enable church members to have concentrated minds to serve God well.

Apostle Kumi-Larbi commended members of PIWC Michel Camp for putting up the building. He congratulated the leaders of the project, and encouraged them to continue with their giving spirit for the church to undertake more projects of this nature.

The General Secretary called on the congregation to help the resident Minister to maintain the structure. He said failure to have regular maintenance would derail all the toil and sweat of members.

He added it is not the magnificent nature of the building that matters but the character of the people, who worship in it.

He, therefore, urged the members to stand by their Biblical principles, draw closer to God and depend on Him entirely.

He further urged members of the congregation not only to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ, but be doers of the word and must also have faith in God.

He said the Church had been given the power to transform society for the better which could only be accomplished if Christians followed the footsteps of Christ.

In his remark, Apostle Kumi warned Christians to desist from moving from one prayer center to another in search of spiritual assistance.

“Many Christians are ignorant of the power they wield as children of God. Consequently, they have become vulnerable and are being deceived by some self-acclaimed “men of God” and “prophets,” he lamented.

The Presiding Elder of PIWC Michel Camp, Elder Benjamin Ampem Darko, in an interview was grateful to the Ghana Armed Forces for releasing the land for the building and also their contributions to the church over the years.

He commended the church members for their self-help spirit and appealed to them to continue to support the church in diverse ways.

A number of personalities including the General Secretary of the Church, Apostle Kumi-Larbi, his wife, Mrs. Rose Kumi-Larbi, the Chief of Defence Staff for the Ghana Armed Forces, Lt. General Obed Boamah Akwa, the Ashaiman Area Head, Apostle Patrick K. Ennin, Apostle Barabu, the Pastorate and their wives in the Ashaiman Area, MPs, Traditional rulers, Ministers of the Gospel and Worshippers from the Ashaiman Area of the Church attended the event.
