The State Housing Company Limited (SHC) has cautioned its clients not to deal with unscrupulous persons parading as members of its committed Task Force since they do so at their own risk.
“It has come to our notice that some imposters are using the name of our Task Force to demand money from both our clients and prospective clients,” the spokesperson of the SHC Gordon Asare-Bediako told a section of the media.
According to the PRO, to make the official members of the Task Force easily identifiable “State Housing has identification cards with security features for all our members so don’t deal with people with no I.D cards. Normally, you would also see our branded vehicles conveying the task force team, so don’t deal with people who come in commercial or private vehicles”.
He was emphatic that “no task force team member has the right to take money from clients or even encroachers when they visit their sites”.
Asare-Bediako added: “You don’t need to pay money to even our official task force team. When your items are seized by the team for illegal construction, you only have to come to our office and see the appropriate officer in charge for regularization”.
He reminded clients of SHC to regularly pay their ground rent since it is captured in the lease document.
“It may be harsh but the reality is that a home owner may lose his/her house due to failure to pay ground rent but SHC does not want it to get to that level”.
On the several reported MOUs SHC is said to have enters into with some public institutions such as University of Health and Allied Sciences, Immigration Service, Ghana Health Service among others, the PRO said “it is said in our local language that a house is built indoors before it comes out so that is exactly what we are doing. We are on course”.
