To acknowledge and appreciate the vital role of women and their contributions to its organisation and country, AirtelTigo has organised a session on a topic – ‘The AirtelTigo Woman: Mind, Body and Soul’ for its female employees in Accra.

The session is part of activities lined up by the second largest telecom firm to celebrate women in the month of March and honour International Women’s Day.

Opening the session with her upbringing, the Chief Executive Officer of AirtelTigo, Mrs. Mitwa Kaemba Ng’ambi, thanked the employees for their efforts and contributions to building the AirtelTigo brand.

With a track record of building high-performing teams and driving business profitability across operations in Africa, Mrs. Ng’ambi told the gathering that: “hard work is good, but clarity in your mind about what you want to do is better and as a woman, one thing you should always strive to be is your authentic self.”

Speaking on the ‘effective use of the mind’, the former Vice President of Unilever Francophone Africa, Ms. Maidie Akutu, said: “the power of the mind and the ability to nurture it as part of your total wellbeing for both personal and corporate life.”

She disclosed: “For women, we need to have the innate desire to continue to improve ourselves; you limit the potential of your mind if you do not read. Cultivate the habit of reading to broaden your mind and horizon beyond your core professional area. Learn a new skill to improve yourself, smile, make friends, go for mentorship sessions and stop negative talks.”

Addressing the women on the body, Ms. Elsie Nuku shared tips with the women on maintaining a healthy body, living to keep them fit whiles incorporating a good diet as part of their everyday life.

“Staying in shape is beneficial to our health, emotional, physical and professional being. It makes you more confident and drives your ambitions to take on extra tasks,” said Ms Nuku, who is the Head of Production and Event Management at Roverman Productions.

Closing the session on spiritual growth, the CEO of Legacy & Legacy and Executive Director of Springboard Roadshow Foundation, Mrs. Comfort Ocran shared spiritual factors that make women unique in the corporate space. She encouraged the women to work towards God’s standard of excellence and not that of humans.

She cited biblical characters of Ruth, Esther and Mary and pointed out some traits they could develop in the build-up of their spiritual life. “In all three characters, we can conclude that building yourself up spiritually can make you diligent, have a great attitude, humble, visionary and develop other exemplary traits that would help shape your career life for the good.”

The session was moderated by television and radio hostess at GHOne and Starr FM, Ms. Shirley Tibilla.
