Huawei launches new smartphone, Huawei Y9 Prime 2019

Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. on Thursday launched a new smartphone, the Huawei Y9 Prime 2019, onto the Ghanaian market.

Huawei y9 prime 2019 is an upgrade of Huawei Y9 2019 and it comes with loads of mind-blowing features.

Speaking to Starrfm.com.gh at the sidelines of the launch, Marketing Manager for Huawei Ghana Dennis Laryea said unlike other smartphones that have featured notches of different shapes and sizes and within which there would be the front camera for selfies, the notification indicator and other sensors, the Huawei y9 prime 2019, comes with free notches, holes or sliders.

Does that mean Huawei had decided to remove the front camera and other sensors from this device? “No,” retorted Laryea. “Actually the front camera is still there but hidden somewhere within the body and completely invisible and it shows up elegantly within one second when you feel like taking a selfie and retraces back in the same style.”

“It is a new auto pop-up camera that shows up when you switch to the front camera in the interface. And it is built to raise and retract 100,000 times, so if you take 100 selfies a day, you have a device that lasts at least 2.7 years, which is beyond the average lifetime of a smartphone,” he added.

According to him, getting rid of the notch, meant one got a big screen that measures 6.59 inches, and it is a known fact that a bigger screen can make all the difference.

“This phone will certainly provide users with an ultimate viewing experience watching videos and TV series and the most fulfilling gaming sessions,” he stated.

“Having such a bezel-less and awesome display might mean us losing track of time and spend extended hours on the phone,” Laryea added as Huawei y9 prime 2019’s display is designed to filter harmful blue light emissions, adjust the colour and temperature and protect users from fatigue or eye strain.

On his part, Country Manager for Huawei Ghana and West African countries, Simon Liu, said: “Huawei is the first company to launch the AI technology in this industry,” assuring that the company  will “constantly invest in the Ghana market no matter the infrastructure but also the consumer business; localization is a high percentage and we call it ‘Glocalization’ – Global Localization.”

About Y9 Prime 2019

The new Huawei Y9 Prime 2019 has a 16MP pop-up selfie camera and a triple rear camera feature.  The device comes with a dual design back which is textured on the top one-fourth part and smooth on the remaining three-fourths.

There are three colour options to choose from – Sapphire Blue, Midnight Black and Emerald Green.

The handset offers a 6.59-inch TFT LCD Huawei Ultra Full View Display of 2340x1080p resolution (391 ppi) with no notch on the top as it houses the front camera in the pop-up setup.

Backed by a 4000mAh battery, the Y9 Prime 2019 smartphone runs on EMUI 9.0 based on Android 9.0 Pie out-of-the-box. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi hotspot, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth, NFC and USB Type-C.

The device has a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. The dimensions and the weight of the Huawei Y9 Prime (2019) stand at 77.3×163.5×8.8mm and 196.8g.
