The Electoral Commission(EC) has described the contentious notice of polls for the upcoming Kumawu by-election circulating on social media as fake.
A notice of poll with two independent candidates bearing the same name wearing Kente cloth with each having a symbol of a bird went viral on social media.
But the Electoral Commission in a statement said a draft notice of poll bearing the photograph of the two independent candidates with same names and similar symbol attached and symbols was submitted to them for approval from the District Office.
According to the EC, the notice of polls in contention was neither approved nor gazetted.
