Dreams FC’s CAF Confederation Cup journey ended with a 3-0 loss against Egyptian giant Zamalek at Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.
Despite a goalless draw in the first leg in Cairo, Dreams entered the match confidently, pushing forward aggressively in the first leg half, but Zamalek’s seasoned experience proved decisive.
A corner kick by defender Hamza Mathlouthi in the 12th minute gave Zamalek their first serious chance, and they took advantage of it while Dreams had a rough start and found it difficult to get back on track. With a spectacular strike in the 27th minute, Samson Akinyoola, a forward for Zamalek from Benin, increased the lead to two goals.
Zamalek dominated the match, sealing the victory with a third goal from Mostafa Shalaby, despite disappointments for Dreams FC players.
The Ghanaian club reached the semi-finals for the first time in 20 years, a historic achievement and a commendable performance.
Zamalek now awaits the winner of the match between USM Alger and RS Berkane as they advance to the final.
