Do not be partisan – Former GSL SRC President Wonder Kutor to new President

The newly-elected president of the Students Representative Council ( SRC) of the Ghana School of Law, Mr Daniel Otting Awuah has paid a courtesy call on the 2021/2022 President, Wonder Victor Kutor Esq. at his residence.

The visit forms part of the newly elected President’s broad consultations ahead of his swearing following his election in the early part of this year.

In his remarks during the visit, Mr. Otting Awuah, stressed the need to seek ideas and blessings from those who have occupied the very position he has been elected to occupy as a first step towards building in the legacies that have been left by predecessors.

According to him, leadership at the school level may be daunting and it requires the best set of governance practices to achieve the results in an environment where the students are legally exposed and will demand due process.

He used the occasion to commend the Director, of Legal Education, Barima Yaw Oppong for his pragmatic leadership which for him serves as a source of refreshing motivation for the new SRC executive.

Receiving the President-elect, Mr. Kutor congratulated the new president on his election to lead the student body for the next academic year, urging him to seek the interest of the students at all times.

“ It is an office I have occupied before and I can tell you that working with management and seeking the interests of the students will lead you to succeed as the SRC President”, he entreated him.

Running for the presidency of the SRC has often been perceived to be political in view of the political party leanings of some of the candidates who put themselves up for the contest.

But in the view of Mr.Kutor, there is a need for the current president-elect to do well during his administration to reduce this perception by demonstrating to be non-partisan.

“ I urge you to be non-partisan during your tenure in order to be able to work with all manner of students “, he advised .

Since leaving office in 2022, there have been two successors of Mr.Kutor. They are Odupong Agyapong -Atta Agyapong who handed over to Getrude Emefa Donkor who hands over to the current president-elect, Mr Daniel Otting Awuah at a ceremony later in the year.
