The College of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG) has expressed its discontent over the seizure of their July salaries, describing the action as “needless” and “unjustified”.
Speaking on Morning Starr, John Newton, a representative of CETAG, stated, “We are shocked and disappointed that our July salaries have been seized. We cannot fathom any reason for this action, and we deem it totally needless.”
Newton emphasized that CETAG members have been diligent in their duties, and such a punitive measure is not only unfair but also demotivating. “Our members have worked hard and deserve their salaries. This seizure will only lead to low morale and decreased productivity,” he added.
CETAG is calling on the relevant authorities to immediately release their salaries, ensuring that their members can cater to their financial obligations without further distress. “We urge the authorities to reconsider this decision and pay our members their rightful salaries,” Newton concluded.
The association has vowed to take further action if their demands are not met, hinting at potential industrial action. The seizure of their July salaries has left CETAG members in a state of uncertainty, and a resolution is eagerly awaited.
