Summon Mustapha Ussif, NSA boss, GFA over CAF stadium ban – Saddick Adams to Akuffo Addo

Saddick Adams, a renowned sports journalist, has charged President Akufo-Addo to summon and query Ghana’s Sports ministers, the director of the National Sports Authority, and officials of the Football Association following the decision to revoke the approval of Baba Yara Stadium by CAF.

The decision by CAF follows a series of technical infractions observed during the recent Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match between Ghana and Angola held on September 5, 2024.

Speaking on THE GAME on GHOne TV with Benjamin Yamoah and Monica Bukari, Saddick Adams wants President Akufo-Addo to demand answers from these officials.

“Summon the Sports Minister, the National Sports Authority (NSA) director, and the GFA president and query them. I’ve said on several platforms that I (Nana Addo) have invested in infrastructure more than any government in the history of this country. Yet this has taken place during my tenure. It has never happened in the history of Ghana that we have been banned from hosting matches in our country. “

“So if I have invested this much and I can talk on several platforms, why is it that this is happening during my time? The government that has invested so much in infrastructure is the same government supervising the deplorable state of the pitches, leading to the disapproval of the stadium for the national team, so how did this happen? And how do we manage the fact that the NPP government under Nana Addo says they have invested more than any government”, he said.

“It basic infrastructure for sports is a stadium, in FIFA laws, the basic infrastructure is the pitch, knowing the fundamentals is important. If you say you have invested so much more than any government and it is your time that we don’t have a common pitch. So, what kind of infrastructure did you invest in? So he should question them” he told GHOne TV.

Following CAF’s decision to ban the Baba Yara Stadium from hosting international matches, Ghana’s Black Stars may be forced to find a new home for their upcoming international matches.

The next international break will see the Black Stars face Sudan in double-header in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in October.
