Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, has affirmed the Ghana Police Service’s dedication to maintaining the peace of Ghana before, during, and after the December 7 Presidential and parliamentary elections.

He said the Police and it’s partner security services are ready to risk their lives if the need arises to protect the peace of the country for the future generation but cautioned trouble makers of consequences.

“We the Ghana Police and other sister security services are determined to maintain the peace of the country. Even if we will risk our lives to protect the peace of the country we are ready to sacrifice our lives for the future generation”, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare assured.

The IGP warned that any group or individual that attempts to disrupt the country’s peace would be met with the full force of the law.

“If any unpatriotic individual or a group attempts to undermine the peace of the country, that individual will be dealt with according to the laws of the country. The police and the security services must not be blamed for the consequences”.

Dr. George Akuffo Dampare said this when speaking at the enstoolment of a Broadcast journalist Isaac Boamah Darko as Mawerehene of Akyem Adadientam in Akyem Abuakwa traditional area in Eastern region.

During the ceremony, the IGP also called for unity within Ghana’s chieftaincy institutions to reduce the alarming number of chieftaincy disputes threatening the country’s peace.

Isaac Boamah Darko, now known as Barfuor Boamah Darko, was officially enstooled as Mawerehene of Akyem Adadientam pledged his support for community development.

He also proposed establishing the Tweretwie Festival to honor JB Danquah, a prominent figure in Ghana’s independence movement from Adadientem community.

Barima Ofori Asante Chief of Akyem Adadientam appealed to residents, both locally and abroad, to contribute to community initiated projects such as road construction which will start soon as government has failed to construct roads in the community.

The ceremony was overseen by Okogyeaman Apagya Ofori, representing the Akyem Abuakwa traditional area.

He commended the IGP for moving the police service to higher professional standard.

He called for extension of the tenure of the IGP to consolidate gains made with policing in Ghana.
