Former Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association, Ibrahim Sannie Daara, has tasked the Black Stars’ handlers with expanding the scope of player invitations into the team to decrease complacency and promote competition.
The Black Stars of Ghana are on the brink of not qualifying for AFCON 2025 to be staged in Morocco due to poor performances from the players with two games to end the qualifiers.
The former GFA spokesperson believes some of the current crop of players in the team feel very comfortable, and that impacts their performances and results.
“A lot of players in the Black Stars feel too comfortable in the team. A lot of young players who have come into the team did not struggle to get into the team. They feel that it is very easy to get into the team.” He told GHOne TV in an interview on The Game with Benjamin Yamoah and Monica Bukari.
He added that the scope for selecting players for the national team should be expanded to rope in other players playing well elsewhere to achieve healthy team competition.
“I think that we should widen the scope not only into the top leagues in the world but also those outside the top leagues. One example is Bernard Terkpetey.
“We should re-change the strategy and give more opportunities to some players. It will bring competition into the team”, he said.
Ghana will take on Angola on Friday, November 15, followed by a home game against Niger at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday, November 18, 2024.
