We are targeting 75% of votes in the Ashanti region – Nana Akomea

The Vice Chairman for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign team, Nana Akomea has disclosed that the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) plan is to get 75 percent votes in the Ashanti region.

Nana Akomea speaking on Wednesday’s edition of GH Today on GHOne TV with Lantam Papanko, stated the consistent campaign by the flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Bawumia in the party’s stronghold, Ashanti region.

Dr. Bawumia is currently in the Ashanti region spending up to Fifteen days selling his policies from one constituency to another to maximize votes in the region.

With this, the vice chairman said they are targeting the aforementioned percentage of votes from the region.

“We are targeting 75 percent votes from the Ashanti region, we targeted the same in 2016 and we won, so if we get 75 percent votes in the Ashanti region, we will win the election”, Nana Akomea disclosed.

He mentioned that Dr. Bawumia is the only presidential candidate doing a consistent campaign and accused John Maham of an inconsistent campaign.

Touching on the recent development with the Judiciary, he expressed concern over the low level of confidence in Ghana’s judicial system, attributing it to the perception of delays in justice delivery.

He added that the public’s trust in the judiciary remains low due to the perceived lack of timely justice.

“Confidence in the judiciary has always been low because people don’t see justice is available to them,” Akomea stated.

He pointed to various research findings, including the recent “Mo Ibrahim” report, and Anas’ investigation on the judiciary, which have consistently highlighted a decline in public trust in the judiciary over the past decade. Akomea’s comments underscore the ongoing challenges facing the Ghanaian judiciary in maintaining public confidence.
