Presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has promised to transform the Ejura Market into a modern commercial hub if elected in the upcoming general elections.
Speaking at a vibrant campaign rally in Ejura during his five-day tour of the Ashanti Region, Mr. Mahama outlined plans to construct a modernized market with upgraded infrastructure, better sanitation facilities, and improved amenities to promote trade and economic growth in the region.
“The Ejura Market is not just a trading center; it is a lifeline for families and an engine for the local economy,” Mahama declared to a cheering crowd. “When the NDC wins, we will construct a new, more modern, and beautiful market that will make business easier for traders and attract customers from far and wide.”
Highlighting the NDC’s track record, Mahama stated that several development projects, including plans to rebuild hospitals, were initiated under his government. He criticized the current administration’s handling of the Agenda 111 hospital projects and expressed skepticism about their completion.
“The current government has initiated one of their ‘Agenda 111’ hospitals,” he said. “I am confident they will not complete it before leaving office, and the NDC will take over to complete and deliver it to you.”
The former president also reiterated his party’s intention to prioritize inclusive financial support, emphasizing a novel initiative aimed at empowering women.
“We are committed to establishing a ‘Feminine Bank’ to provide small loans to women entrepreneurs,” Mahama announced. “And one of the branches will be located right here in Ejura. This is part of our broader vision to uplift women and support their vital contributions to our economy.”
Mahama encouraged supporters to review the NDC’s past manifestos, including their 2016 and 2020 editions, which he said highlight his party’s consistent commitment to grassroots development.
The NDC’s campaign in the Ashanti Region continues to focus on infrastructure, social support, and economic revitalization, themes the party believes will resonate with voters as they prepare to head to the polls.
