Krowor Member of Parliament, Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, has called on all eligible voters to actively participate in the ongoing special voting exercise as part of the lead-up to Ghana’s December 7 general elections.

Speaking to the media during her visit to the Kpeshie Divisional Police Headquarters, one of the designated polling stations, Dr. Larte expressed concern over the slow pace of voting but commended the smooth organization of the process so far.

“It’s a process, and this is where we are at this point in the journey of getting His Excellency J.D.M. [John Dramani Mahama] re-elected to serve Ghana, and myself, my mandate renewed,” she said. “So far this morning, the process started smoothly, but voting has been a bit slow. It’s 10 o’clock, and we’re yet to hit 200 voters. We’re hoping the numbers pick up soon.”

Dr. Larte used the opportunity to encourage voters in the special exercise to make their voices heard, particularly those yet to cast their ballots.

“I want to urge anyone and everyone mandated to vote today, wherever you are, to please come and vote,” she said. “If you’re near the Kpeshie Divisional Police Station or any polling station designated for the special vote, I encourage you to participate. We need to vote to be your voice.”

The MP also thanked her constituents for their enthusiasm and active participation in the electoral process so far, emphasizing the importance of the special voting exercise as a precursor to the main election.

“I want to thank the good people of Krowor. So far, we’ve all been very active in the process. No one has been left behind. I pray that the enthusiasm with which we started today continues and culminates on December 7,” Dr. Larte stated.

She concluded with an optimistic message, expressing confidence in the outcome of the elections.

“By the grace of God, when all is said and done, on December 7, we will crown His Excellency John Dramani Mahama as the President of Ghana, and I will continue my work as MP for Krowor. Let’s keep the momentum going,” she said.

Special voting allows security personnel, election officials, and media practitioners who will be on duty during the general election to cast their votes in advance. Dr. Larte’s remarks highlight the importance of voter turnout, even during this preparatory phase.

As the day progresses, election officials and party agents remain hopeful that the pace of voting will improve, ensuring all eligible voters exercise their rights in this critical democratic process.
