Activist, Oliver Barker-Vormawor says he is ready to appear before the Appointments Committee after being summoned to provide evidence for his recent bribery and corruption allegations leveled against the Committee’s Chairman and majority members.
His summons follows a controversial social media post by activist Oliver Barker-Vormawor, who alleged that appointees were being asked to pay money before their approval which triggered debate in Parliament before the vetting session for the minister-designate for defense.
The activist explains that he aims to enhance transparency and accountability in the vetting process within a democratic nation.
In a Facebook post responding to the invitation, Barker-Vormawor wrote: “This is how democracy improves. I look forward to appearing before the Appointments Committee tomorrow. Thank you.”
Chairman of the Appointments Committee, Benard Ahiafor, and other members of the committee denied the claims stating that they don’t demand money from any nominees before vetting and approval.
Mr. Barker-Vormawor is expected to appear before the Appointment Committee on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, in Parliament.
