The Chairman of the Council of State, Edward Doe Adjaho, has assured the Council’s dedication to supporting President John Dramani Mahama in building the nation.
Addressing the gathering at the Jubilee House after the swearing-in of a 31 Council members, Mr. Adjaho assured President Mahama of their commitment.
The council comprises both elected and appointed members, following elections held on February 11 and 17.
“I want to assure you on behalf of council that we will work hard as team we will support in the governance structure, in the discharge of our constitutional and statue responsibilities”.
Addressing the gathering, Doe Adjaho dissolved calls for the abolition of the Council of State, stressing that the newly instituted body will play a key role in national development.
“It is true,many have questioned the relevance of the council of state as you rightly pointed out. Some have even called for it’s abolition. I want to assure you that this council will be a council of a difference”.
“Fortunately,many members of the council are people I have come across in my public life. More importantly I have hope in the country and this hope and consistent with your vision of empowering all manner of people irrespective of their background”.
“He also said they have young men amongst them who are in their early 30s. So even as people are calling for it’s abolition, the youth seems to have some confidence in the council.”.
He added that the president can call on the council day and night and they shall respond.
