The Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has assured that the Mahama government will complete stalled projects at S.D. Dombo University.
Speaking at the inauguration of the university’s governing council, the minister conceded that the institution had received little developmental support in the last few years.
He said the government will set funds aside to address the challenge in the university through the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GET Fund).
“I’ll be the first to concede that in terms of infrastructure, SD Dumbo has not seen any significant support. If I were to say significant, we haven’t seen any support by way of infrastructure.
“I’m happy to announce that this year, the government, through the GET FUND, will make available some seed money for SD Dumbo University as part of government quest, President Mahama’s quest, to support the institution to grow,” Mr. Iddrisu said to applause.
The education minister also pledged to liaise with the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) to address the university’s electricity debts.
