Chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Authority (NYA), Osman Ayariga, has expressed deep sorrow over the military helicopter crash in Adansi Akrofuom, Ashanti Region, which claimed the lives of eight people, including two cabinet ministers.

In a statement, Mr. Ayariga extended heartfelt condolences to the families, colleagues, and loved ones of the victims, describing the incident as a devastating blow to the nation.

“The brave individuals aboard that aircraft were serving their country with dedication, courage, and honour. Their untimely passing is not only a loss to their families, but a blow to the entire nation,” he said.

He joined President John Dramani Mahama, the government, and all citizens in mourning the fallen, calling for unity and compassion during this difficult period. He also commended the rescue teams and emergency services for their swift and professional response.

Mr. Ayariga urged Ghanaians to remain calm as investigations into the crash continue and pledged collective support for all those impacted.

“May the souls of the departed rest in perfect peace, and may their sacrifice never be forgotten,” he concluded.

The crash, which occurred on Wednesday, August 6, claimed the lives of Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Environment, Science and Technology Minister Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator Alhaji Muniru Mohammed Limuna, NDC Vice Chairman Dr. Samuel Sarpong, Deputy NADMO Director-General Samuel Aboagye, Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manaen Twum Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
