The Deputy Director of IT and Elections for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Tanko Computer, has expressed confidence in his party’s chances in the upcoming polls, describing the political atmosphere in Akwatia as peaceful and favorable to the NDC.
Speaking on The Verdict show with Issac Addae on Starr FM on Tuesday, August 26, Tanko said local residents were openly appreciative of the NDC’s record in government and were eager to reward the party at the ballot box.
“The local people are saying they are living testimonies to the good governance of His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, so they say they will vote for NDC,” Tanko stated.
Addressing claims by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) that there was heavy police presence in the constituency creating an atmosphere of intimidation, Tanko dismissed the allegations as mere propaganda.
“Over here, the grounds are solid, it’s peaceful, and I must say, the police are on top of issues. The case that you hear in Accra, when you come to Akwatia, it’s not like that,” he said.

“Those NPP people doing propaganda all over the airwaves, saying that a lot of police are here intimidating people – look, the place is very free. The people are walking around doing their businesses as if nothing is happening. It’s just the NPP in Accra who are making this noise. They should come to Akwatia.”
The NDC official emphasized that the party’s focus remains on engaging voters and ensuring a strong showing in the constituency.
