Samsung Electronics Ghana today introduced Samsung Health to the Ghanaian market, showcasing how the Galaxy Watch8 and Samsung Health Monitor app deliver clinically approved health monitoring features.

These features, including Blood Pressure, ECG, and Sleep Apnea detection, have been validated and approved by the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) in Ghana, ensuring local credibility and reliability. The launch took place at ACTIV8 Gym in East Legon, in partnership with the Melcom Group, reinforcing Samsung’s commitment to improving access to digital health innovation in Ghana.

Clinically Approved Health Monitoring Features

Samsung Health, together with the Galaxy Watch8, provides users with medical-grade tools for preventive care and everyday wellbeing:

Blood Pressure Monitoring – Measure systolic and diastolic pressure from the wrist (with calibration).

Electrocardiogram (ECG) – Record single-lead ECGs and detect irregular rhythms such as atrial fibrillation.

Sleep Apnea Detection – Identify potential signs of moderate to severe sleep apnea.

Advanced Wellness Tools

Beyond clinical features, Samsung Health also offers: Vascular Load – Tracks cardiovascular stress during sleep. Antioxidant Index – Measures skin carotenoid levels for dietary and wellness insights. AGED (Advanced Glycation End-products) Index – Assesses metabolic health linked to diet and lifestyle. Energy Score & Sleep Coaching – AI-based scoring with personalized bedtime guidance. Holistic Wellness – Stress tracking, mindfulness, fitness coaching, and personalized programs.

Event at ACTIV8 Gym

Guests at the launch event experienced live demonstrations of Samsung Health features, including real-time BP, ECG, and Sleep Apnea checks. Representatives from Samsung Ghana, alongside executives from Melcom and ACTIV8, shared their commitment to empowering Ghanaians with smarter, accessible health solutions.

Speaking at the event, Musah Al-Hassan (Head of Mobile, Samsung Ghana) said:

“Samsung Health is not just an app — it is a health ecosystem. With clinically approved features, we are empowering Ghanaians with trusted health insights right at their fingertips.”

A representative from Melcom Group, Rishi Melwani (Director, ACTIV8) added:

“As the parent company of ACTIV8, we are proud to collaborate with Samsung to bring innovation into everyday wellness. This partnership reflects our joint commitment to preventive care and healthier communities.”

Expanding Access with Partners

Samsung will extend the Samsung Health experience nationwide through a strong network of partners, including: Melcom and ACTIV8 Gyms, Addpharma, Decathlon Ghana, Aviation Social Centre, Samsung Retail Stores across Ghana

From Monday, September 1, 2025, the Galaxy Watch8 will also be available nationwide at a special promotional price of 25% off, giving more Ghanaians the opportunity to access clinically approved health technology at an affordable cost.

Samsung’s vision remains clear: “Your Health in Your Hands – Powered by Galaxy.”
