President John Dramani Mahama has inaugurated Ghana’s first batch of newly appointed envoys, charging them to carry the country’s renewed diplomatic vision to the international stage.

The swearing-in ceremony took place on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at the Jubilee House.

The diplomats, posted to strategic capitals across the world, are expected to drive Ghana’s foreign policy priorities while promoting President Mahama’s Reset Agenda — a framework he describes as a blueprint to rebuild trust, restore hope, and accelerate inclusive national development.

“The Reset Agenda is this administration’s blueprint. It is a bold vision to restore hope in our people, rebuild trust, and rekindle the movement towards prosperity,” the President told the envoys.

“It seeks to re-anchor our integrity, transparency, and inclusive development to governance. While much of this work will be driven domestically, your role is to extend this agenda abroad by cultivating strategic partnerships, unlocking opportunities, and deepening Ghana’s place in the global community.”

The appointees include seasoned politicians, academics, and career diplomats. Among them are Zita Sabah Benson (High Commissioner to the UK), Victor Emmanuel Smith (Ambassador to the US), Mavis Ama Frimpong (Ambassador to France), Baba Jamal (High Commissioner to Nigeria), and Kojo Bonsu (Ambassador to China).

Others include Professor Ohene Adjei (Germany), Alhaji Abdul Nasiru-Deen (Turkey), Nii Amasah Namoale (Brazil), and Professor Kwasi Obiri-Danso (India).

President Mahama reminded the envoys that Ghana’s diplomacy has always been rooted in Pan-African solidarity, peaceful coexistence, and the pursuit of equity in global affairs.

He emphasized that their mandate goes beyond protocol, requiring them to secure investments, foster international cooperation, and amplify Ghana’s voice in global governance.
