The provision of mental and psychological support for the pharmacy attendant and a female customer who were assaulted by a military man in plain clothes at a pharmacy near Burma Camp in Accra is very important in helping the victims recover, a Medical Doctor and Gender Advocate, Dr Vanessa Atikpui has said.
The Military man identified as Williams Mensah, was caught on CCTV physically assaulting a pharmacy attendant and a female customer.
Mensah was seen in the video which was first circulated by GHOne TV on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, engaging in a heated argument with the pharmacist before striking both the pharmacist and a female customer.

The woman, who attempted to record the incident on her phone, was hit multiple times, after which the soldier continued to assault the pharmacist.
Widespread condemnation of the video which has since gone viral led to the arrest of Williams Mensah by the Military Police on Thursday, October 30, 2025.
Commenting on the video on Starr FM’s Morning Show, Morning Starr on Thursday, Dr Atikpui said the provision of the mental and psychological support for the victims is very important at this stage of their lives.
“We are looking at how we can provide some level of mental support or psychological support for them. There should be organizations that will be keen on looking out for some of these individuals to provide support for them so that they will no know that they are not alone and also allow them navigate this process…,” she said.
She further encouraged the establishment of support groups for victims of abuse so victims will be encouraged to come out to tell their stories.
