Executive Chairman and Founder of the Africa Prosperity Network (APN), Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, has dismissed claims that he is a politician, insisting he is only a political strategist.
Speaking on GHToday with Serwaa Amihere on Thursday, January 22, Otchere-Darko, an avowed New Patriotic Party (NPP) stalwart, said public perception has wrongly labelled him as a politician despite never holding public office.
“I’m not even too sure about retiring. You can never get politics out of you because you must be engaged in how your country is run, how your continent is run, how your communities run,” he said.
Clarifying his role, he added, “But in terms of actively engaging in politics, and I never considered myself a politician. I was a strategist, and I’ve never held political office.”

Otchere-Darko acknowledged that he has strong opinions on national issues but maintained that this does not make him a politician.
“People describe me as a politician. I have strong views on politics. I’ve been involved in politics, but I’m not a politician,” he stated.
He also commended the John Dramani Mahama-led government for signs of economic recovery, while noting that the New Patriotic Party should equally be credited for contributing to the gains.
