Dr. Prince Emmanuel Markey, Founder and CEO of RTP Awards Africa, has strongly refuted claims that the awards have been manipulated or that favoritism influenced outcomes in past editions.
Speaking on Starr Showbiz on Friday, January 24, 2026, with Feeling Daddy, Dr. Markey addressed persistent narratives suggesting that sponsorship and award decisions were biased toward certain media personalities.
He cited allegations involving broadcaster Andy Dosty, dismissing them as false. “Andy Dosty had resigned from Angel FM and had been at Hitz FM for about five years at the time. He was not even speaking to the owner, so how could he have brought sponsorship?” he questioned.
Dr. Markey also addressed claims that media personality Delay had unduly benefited from the awards, stating, “This Delay we are talking about never even earned RTP nominations for years. The last time she won an RTP Award was in 2023, and that was her first.” He emphasized, “All these are lies.”
According to Dr. Markey, the widespread allegations of favoritism and sponsorship manipulation were largely fabricated and allowed to circulate unchecked.
“About 90 percent of the things said about RTP Awards were untrue,” he concluded.
He also recounted the persistent reporting that the RTP Awards would not take place despite preparations being complete, saying, “They sent people to the conference centre as early as nine in the morning to do live broadcasts saying the awards would not come on. Even at 4:00 p.m., they were still reporting that it would not happen.”
Despite these reports, that edition of the awards recorded its highest attendance, which Dr. Markey attributed to divine intervention.
“That was the year we had the highest numbers. It is God who has held us,” he said.
The RTP Awards CEO maintains that the scheme has continued to thrive despite sustained misinformation and unfounded claims of favoritism.
