A member of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Communications Team, Kwadwo Poku, has described Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s popularity as unmatched, highlighting his extensive political experience and nationwide reach as key factors distinguishing him from other contenders.
Speaking on GHToday with Lily Mohammed on Monday, February 2, 2026, Poku argued that Dr. Bawumia’s long-standing presence at the highest levels of governance gives him an edge within Ghana’s political landscape.
According to Poku, Dr. Bawumia’s 16 years as a vice-presidential running mate, eight years as Vice President, and one year as a presidential flagbearer have provided him with unparalleled exposure and political credibility.

“There is nobody more popular than Bawumia,” Poku said. “He is the only candidate who has toured all 276 constituencies across the country.”
He further contrasted Dr. Bawumia’s nationwide campaign footprint with that of the opposition, noting that even the National Democratic Congress (NDC) had not achieved a similar level of coverage.
“Even the NDC did not cover all 276 constituencies, and John Mahama himself did not visit all constituencies during his last election campaign,” he added.
