Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has confirmed the death of a second-year student, Ransford Amankwah Asomani, following a fall from an off-campus hostel at Ayeduase.
In a statement issued on Monday, February 9, 2026, and signed by the University Relations Officer, Dr Daniel Norris Bekoe, management said the deceased was pursuing a BSc in Agribusiness Management.
According to preliminary reports, Asomani fell from the second floor of the hostel in the early hours of Sunday, February 8, 2026. He was rushed to the KNUST Hospital by colleagues with support from the KNUST District Police Patrol Team, but was “pronounced dead on arrival.”
The university said the family has been informed, while the body has been deposited at the hospital mortuary pending an autopsy.
Management described the incident as heartbreaking, noting it had received the news “with deep sadness,” and extended condolences to the bereaved family and the university community.
Meanwhile, “The KNUST Police, in collaboration with the university security services, has commenced investigations into the incident. Management will provide further updates to the media and the public as soon as all the facts are established,” the statement added.
KNUST also reiterated its commitment to the “safety, security, and well-being” of students and staff.
