The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has officially cleared Mohammed Baba Jamal Ahmed to represent the party in the upcoming Ayawaso East by-election.
Deputy National Communications Officer of the NDC, Ako Gunn, confirmed the decision during an interview on Starr FM on Tuesday, February 10, 2026.
The clearance follows the submission of a report by a three-member investigative committee tasked with probing allegations of vote buying during the party’s parliamentary primaries held on February 7.
Claims had circulated that items such as television sets, cash, and other incentives were distributed to delegates, with Baba Jamal Mohammed Ahmed cited as a central figure in the allegations.
The committee, chaired by Kofi Totobi Quakyi and comprising lawyer Emefa Fugah and former MP and Minister Inusah Fuseini, investigated the claims and recommended measures to prevent vote buying in future primaries.
Baba Jamal appeared before the committee and denied any involvement in the alleged activities.
Meanwhile, President John Dramani Mahama has recalled Baba Jamal from his position as Ghana’s High Commissioner to Nigeria.
