The New Patrotic Party National Youth Organiser-elect, Abanga Fuseini Yakubu, has outlined an ambitious electoral strategy for the 2028 general elections, targeting at least 70 parliamentary seats and approximately 4 million youth votes to help return the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to power.
Speaking to Isaac Addae on Morning Starr on Starr FM, Fuseini Yakubu Abanga said the youth wing must play a central role in building the party’s electoral strength ahead of the next general election.
He said one of his key targets is to help the party secure at least 70 seats in Parliament, arguing that a stronger parliamentary representation would form an important part of the NPP’s broader strategy for the 2028 elections.
“I have promised the party youth and the 40 youth organisers… to target 70 seats,” he said.
According to him, achieving the parliamentary target would strengthen the party’s chances of securing victory in the presidential election.
He also identified the youth vote as a critical component of his strategy, stressing the need for the party to deliberately engage and mobilise young people ahead of the 2028 polls.
Abanga Fuseini said his target is to mobilise about 4 million young voters for the NPP, describing the youth as an important constituency in the party’s efforts to regain power.
He said the focus would be on building an effective youth mobilisation structure that can support both the party’s presidential candidate and parliamentary candidates across the country.
Abanga Fuseini elect said his approach would involve new strategies, innovation, creativity and renewed energy in engaging young people and strengthening the party’s youth structures.
He further stressed that the implementation of these strategies would require adequate resources, noting that even well-designed plans could face difficulties without the necessary support.
“You may have the best strategy in the world but without resources it will be difficult to implement them,” he said.
Abanga Fuseini said his ultimate objective is to translate the targets into practical electoral mobilisation ahead of 2028 and contribute to the NPP’s efforts to regain political power.
He also pledged to work with the party’s leadership and youth organisers across the country, saying the task requires collective effort and a coordinated approach.
He urged party members to put the internal elections behind them and focus on the larger objective of strengthening the NPP ahead of the 2028 general elections.
