The Eastern North Regional Police Command has rolled out extensive security measures ahead of this year’s Kwahu Easter festivities, with a strong assurance of safety for residents and visitors.

Addressing members of the media, Eastern North Regional Police Commander, DCOP George Ankomah, emphasized the importance of proactive policing during festive occasions, noting that crime rates often rise during such periods.

According to him, the Police Service has already begun strategic deployments along major routes, particularly from Nsawam through to Edwiso.

According to him, motorists who have used the stretch since Tuesday may have noticed increased police visibility, as officers have been stationed at key points to ensure safety and order.

He further disclosed that from Friday through to Monday, security will be intensified across the Kwahu area.

‘’Police personnel will be positioned along critical stretches, including Mpraeso to Nkawkaw, covering both the Atibie–Nkawkaw and Obomeng–Nkawkaw routes,’’ he added.

DCOP Ankomah revealed that approximately 2,000 police personnel will be deployed for the Easter celebrations, ensuring maximum coverage across the area.

He stressed that all locations are being treated as high-risk zones, with officers stationed accordingly. In addition, plainclothes personnel from the Police Intelligence Department (PID) will be embedded within crowds to monitor activities and respond swiftly to any incidents.

“At our charge offices, officers including CID personnel will be available to promptly attend to any reports. We are fully prepared to respond to any situation,” he assured.

The Police Commander also advised the public to remain vigilant and prioritize personal safety. He cautioned against visiting poorly lit or dark areas, noting that most criminal activities occur in such environments despite ongoing efforts by government to improve street lighting.

Parents were particularly urged to keep a close eye on their children, as large crowds and busy environments could pose risks to minors.

DCOP Ankomah encouraged the public to report any suspicious activities or emergencies through the toll-free police numbers 18555 and 191, assuring that officers will respond promptly.

While reiterating the police’s commitment to ensuring a peaceful celebration, he warned individuals with criminal intent to stay away, stating that law enforcement officers are fully prepared to deal with offenders.

He also reminded motorists to ensure their vehicle documents are valid and to strictly adhere to road safety regulations.

Motorists were cautioned against over-speeding, especially among young drivers, stressing that reckless driving remains a major cause of accidents during festive periods.

“Come and enjoy Kwahu Easter, but be responsible. The police are on the ground to ensure your safety, but you must also be security conscious,” he added.

DCOP Ankomah concluded by wishing all revelers a safe and enjoyable Kwahu Easter celebration.
