Member of Parliament for Yendi, Abdul Fatawu Jofa Esq., has defended government communication on the ongoing power challenges, insisting that authorities have been open and candid with the public regarding the situation.
Speaking on GHToday on GHOne TV, the MP responded to concerns raised by the Minority, who accused government of lacking transparency in explaining the causes of the recent power outages.
Mr. Jofa argued that government has consistently engaged the public through accountability platforms, including presentations by the Energy Minister on the state of the power sector.
“We as a government have been very frank with Ghanaians. We have carried Ghanaians along the way, and at every stage, we have provided details on what is happening,” he stated.
He suggested that the Minority is rejecting official explanations regardless of the information provided.

“What the Minority is doing is to say that we won’t accept your explanations. ‘We have our own reasons, and whatever you say, we’ll stick to our reasons’,” he said.
On the technical challenges within the power sector, the MP noted that the system is structured in a way that disruptions in certain segments affect supply to specific areas, explaining that such complexities contribute to the current situation.
He referenced reports that about 1,170 megawatts of power capacity is currently unavailable, but argued that system design and distribution structures influence how outages are experienced across the country.
