A five-member group of young jazz musicians, known as the Jazz Brothers, will perform at the official launch of the Soho Jazz Club on April 22, 2026, at Marina Mall in Airport City, Accra.
The emergence of the Jazz Brothers reflects a growing interest in jazz music among younger audiences in Ghana, alongside the rise of new venues dedicated to live jazz performances. This trend is also creating increased opportunities for musicians within the country’s evolving cultural space.
Though relatively new as a group, members of the Jazz Brothers bring diverse musical experience from various performance settings, united by a shared commitment to the art of jazz. The ensemble comprises Bismark Akwasi Sarpong (drums), Hidenori Matsuo (bass), Elvis Black (trumpet/flugelhorn), Ike Ador (piano), and Daniel Adarkwa Jr. (saxophone/flute).
The group was formed through the Accra Jazz Academy, an initiative facilitated by the Ghana Jazz Foundation in partnership with Switzerland-based Thomas Dobler Music since early 2024. The academy focuses on promoting jazz education in Ghana and enriching the country’s cultural landscape.
According to the group, their approach to performance is rooted in individuality and creative expression, with each member contributing unique elements to their sound while exploring the depth and dynamics of jazz music. They also acknowledge the influence of jazz pioneers while aiming to establish their own identity within the genre both locally and internationally.
The Jazz Brothers are scheduled to perform at the Soho Jazz Club every Wednesday from 8:00 pm following the launch.
Management of the Soho Jazz Club says the venue aims to deliver consistent, high-quality performances and foster a vibrant atmosphere for jazz enthusiasts in Accra.
