General Secretary of the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS), Benedict Amelorku, has received commendation from prominent political and public figures for his vision and initiative in organising the inaugural “Tell Your Story” Leadership Conference, which has been described as a resounding success.
The conference, held at the R. S. Amegashie Auditorium at the University of Ghana, brought together young leaders, students and distinguished personalities from politics, public service, business and other sectors to share their personal journeys, experiences and lessons on leadership, service and success.
Among those who commended Mr. Amelorku were Miracles Aboagye, former spokesperson for the NPP Flagbearer, and Hon. Dr. Francis-Xavier Sosu, Member of Parliament for Madina, who praised the NUGS General Secretary for creating a platform that goes beyond conventional student activities to expose young people to practical leadership experiences.
The speakers highlighted the significance of creating spaces where young people can interact directly with accomplished personalities and learn from the challenges, sacrifices, failures and opportunities that shaped their journeys.
Benedict Amelorku was particularly praised for bringing together personalities with diverse political and professional backgrounds, providing students and young people with the opportunity to gain perspectives from across Ghana’s leadership and professional landscape.

The “Tell Your Story” conference was conceived around the belief that young people should not only hear about the achievements of successful personalities but should also understand the journeys behind those achievements.
Through personal stories and candid conversations, speakers shared lessons on resilience, purpose, leadership, career development and service, encouraging participants to embrace their own journeys and pursue meaningful impact.
The successful execution of the programme has further strengthened calls for NUGS to play a more active role in leadership development and mentorship beyond its traditional student representation mandate.
The commendations for Mr. Amelorku also centred on his vision of positioning NUGS as a platform that contributes to the development of young Ghanaian leaders capable of making meaningful contributions to national development.
The event attracted a diverse audience of students and young professionals, with participants engaging speakers through questions and discussions on leadership, politics, entrepreneurship, public service and personal development.
For many participants, the conference provided an opportunity to hear first-hand accounts from leaders whose journeys demonstrated that success is often accompanied by setbacks, uncertainty and sacrifice.
The success of the inaugural conference has therefore positioned “Tell Your Story” as a potentially significant platform for youth leadership development, mentorship and intergenerational engagement.
Mr. Amelorku’s vision is to inspire a generation of young people who will not define leadership merely by titles and positions but by service, character, responsibility and impact.
The commendations from the distinguished speakers, coupled with the positive reception from participants, have marked a significant milestone in Mr. Amelorku’s efforts to advance a more purposeful and impact oriented agenda within NUGS.
