Seven personnel of the Ghana Police Service have been interdicted following allegations that they extorted money from a person in Accra.
The officers are accused of being part of a patrol team that allegedly demanded money from the victim and forced him to withdraw the funds from an ATM on their behalf.
The Police Public Affairs Directorate announced the interdiction in a statement issued on Wednesday, September 16, 2026.
Those interdicted are Inspector Courage Boateng, General Sergeant Stephen Addo, General Corporal Moses Anyarvi, General Corporal Prosper Adiabo, General Lance Corporal Samuel Anokye, General Constable Henrietta Coleman and General Constable Bernard Amoako.
The Police said the decision was necessary to facilitate an ongoing investigation by its internal professional standards body.
“The interdiction is to make way for ongoing investigation by the Police Professional Standards Bureau (PPSB).”
The development comes as the Service investigates allegations of misconduct involving the officers.
The Police did not provide further details on the amount allegedly demanded or when the incident occurred.
It, however, said the investigation would determine the appropriate action to be taken.
“The Ghana Police Service assures the public that the matter will be thoroughly investigated and appropriate action taken based on the outcome of the investigations.”
The case is now before the Police Professional Standards Bureau for investigation.
