The Member of Parliament for Sissala West, Mohammed Adams Sukparu, has appealed for calm following a land-related dispute between the Buo and Tiwii communities in the Sissala West District.
The incident, which occurred on Sunday, September 27, 2026, reportedly resulted in the deaths of two people and left others injured.
In a statement, Mr Sukparu expressed sadness over the incident and extended his condolences to the bereaved families while wishing those injured a speedy recovery.
He said he had been informed that the Regional Security Council and the District Security Council had deployed personnel from the Ghana Police Service and the Ghana Armed Forces to the affected communities.
The deployment, he said, was to help restore and maintain calm as investigations into the incident continue.
The MP urged residents of Buo, Tiwii and neighbouring communities to exercise restraint and refrain from retaliation, provocation or any acts of violence.
“At this difficult moment, we must resist actions that could further escalate tensions and result in additional loss of lives and destruction of property,” he said.
Mr Sukparu, who described himself as a son of both communities, also appealed to chiefs, elders, opinion leaders, youth, women and other stakeholders to use their influence to promote peace and prevent further escalation.
“Whatever differences exist between us, no land or boundary dispute is worth the loss of another human life,” he stated.
He further urged all parties and residents to cooperate fully with the security agencies and support ongoing investigations.
The MP called on anyone with relevant information about the incident to provide it to the appropriate authorities to assist in establishing the facts and ensuring that due process is followed.
