NPP youth organiser race now battle of competing interests – Vera Oye Bram-Larbi

New Patriotic Party (NPP) national youth organiser hopeful, Vera Oye Bram-Larbi, has alleged that the party’s upcoming youth organiser election has been influenced by competing interests backing particular candidates.

According to her, the contest, which was initially expected to be a straightforward election among youth organiser aspirants, has taken a different turn following the intervention of influential individuals.

Speaking to Isaac Addae on Morning Starr on Starr FM, Vera Oye Bram-Larbi said the development had affected her earlier confidence about winning the election.

“I was so much certain about my victory tomorrow until a couple of people decided to step in the election. I’ll be that honest,” she said.

She alleged that the contest was no longer solely about the candidates but had become a battle between individuals or groups seeking to influence the outcome by supporting particular aspirants.

“The contest is not between the youth again, it’s between two hands battling their way for throwing support to certain individuals in the contest, which is highly unfair,” she stated.

Vera Oye Bram-Larbi further alleged that some delegates were being instructed to vote for specific candidates, a situation she described as unfair to other aspirants in the race.

“How can you be delegating telling them that everybody should vote this way? It is highly unfair,” she said.

Despite her concerns, the NPP youth organiser hopeful said she remained hopeful that delegates would exercise their own judgment when casting their ballots.

She urged delegates to vote based on the competence and ability of the candidates to deliver, rather than on the preferences of individuals seeking to influence the election.

“I still believe that the delegates are going to do the right thing. They will vote who is most competent and who is most to deliver, not who they impose on them,” she said.

Vera Oye said she had completed her campaign activities and presented her policies to delegates across the country, leaving the outcome of the election to God.

“I’ve done all I needed to do so I leave the rest in the hands of the Lord,” she added.

She also outlined her intention to prioritise unity within the NPP youth wing if elected, saying she would immediately begin implementing the policies presented during her campaign.

“If I win by the grace of God, I’m going to start implementing the policies like I said,” she said.
