Ghana to host Africa’s major safety gathering as Tropical Cable joins Seplat Energy, Zambia Sugar in backing AfriSAFE 2026

Ghana will host AfriSAFE 2026 in Accra on November 5–6, with major African firms backing the congress and 1,000 Ghanaians set for free first-aid training.

Ghana will become the meeting point for Africa’s safety, sustainability and workplace protection community in November, as policymakers, regulators, corporate executives and HSE professionals from across the continent converge on Accra for AfriSAFE 2026 – Africa Safety Congress & Awards.

The two-day event, scheduled for November 5–6 at the Labadi Beach Hotel, is being held under the theme “Safeguarding Lives. Securing the Future.”

The gathering has attracted support from major African businesses, including Tropical Cable, Seplat Energy, Zambia Sugar, Golden Africa Djibouti, GODEF West Africa and Hybrid Group, with discussions expected to focus on technical safety, ESG, AI-driven risk management and organisational resilience.

But organisers say the event will extend beyond the conference room, with 1,000 Ghanaians set to receive free practical first-aid and emergency-response training as part of AfriSAFE’s wider ambition to equip more than 10,000 people across Africa with life-saving skills.

“We can have powerful conversations about safety, but the real test is what changes for the person outside the conference room,” said Femi Da-silva, Founder and CEO of AfriSAFE.

“If 1,000 Ghanaians leave with the skills to save a co-worker, neighbour, or family member, we have created an impact that far outlasts the event.”

Strong Ghanaian and continental participation

The 2026 edition is being hosted in strategic partnership with the Ghana Institute of Safety and Environmental Professionals (GhISEP) and the Ghana Electrical Contractors’ Association (GECA).

It also has the endorsement of Ghana’s Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations, alongside support from Nigeria’s Ministry of Labour and Employment and the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH).

The scale of interest in the accompanying AfriSAFE Awards has also highlighted the growing competition around safety and operational excellence across African industry.

Organisers received more than 13,000 nominations and entries across the continent, comprising over 8,000 individual entries and 5,000 corporate nominations.

Only a small fraction of the individual entries progressed to the final shortlist, while a select group of leading organisations emerged in the corporate categories.

The shortlist includes major industrial and corporate names such as GB Foods Ghana, AngloGold Ashanti, Nestlé ESAR, Puma Energy, MODEC, Zoomlion Ghana Limited, Promasidor, UBA Group, Dangote Packaging Limited, Ardova Plc, Fujita Corporation, Hormuud Telecom Somalia, Shelter Group Africa, Vulcan Mozambique, TATA Chemicals Magadi Kenya, Kagem Mining, Bakhresa Group, Zambeef Products Plc, Lagos Free Zone Company, Trade Kings Group, Equity Group Holdings, FG Gold, Sunbeth Global Concepts, Olam Agric, Akwa Ibom State, ARISE IIP, Ibom Air and Segilola Resources Operating Limited, among others.

From conference to continental platform

The Accra programme will begin on November 4 with “Akwaaba! The Ghanaian Night Experience,” an all-white cultural welcome for international delegates.

The main congress and technical exhibition will take place on November 5 and 6, followed by the AfriSAFE Awards and Grand Cultural Night on November 6.

For AfriSAFE, the decision to bring the event to Ghana reflects the country’s expanding role as a regional centre for corporate governance, ESG and industrial safety.

Previous AfriSAFE editions have been held in Nigeria, Zambia and Kenya, bringing together business leaders, regulators and safety professionals around the continent’s evolving workplace and sustainability challenges.

With Ghana now preparing to host the 2026 edition, organisers say the focus will be firmly on turning conversations about safety into practical action — both in industry and within communities.
