Gold Fields, a globally diversified gold producer, has been confirmed as a Bronze Sponsor of the African Minerals Policy Forum – Mining in Motion 2026 (AMPF–MiM 2026), scheduled for October 19 to 21 at the Destiny Arena in Accra.
The company’s participation is expected to contribute to discussions on Africa’s mining sector, particularly reserve growth, local value retention, capital mobilisation and regional minerals trade.
Gold Fields operates key mining assets in Ghana, including the Tarkwa mine, where declared managed reserves have increased from 4.3 million ounces to 7.4 million ounces.
The company contributed more than GH¢2.9 billion to the Ghanaian economy in the first half of 2026, highlighting the contribution of large-scale mining to government revenue and economic development.
Gold Fields also supports Ghana’s efforts to build its national reserves through the Ghana Accelerated National Reserve Accumulation Policy.
The company recently facilitated the transition of the Damang Mine back to the Government of Ghana, providing a detailed feasibility study to support decisions on the mine’s future development.
As a Bronze Sponsor, Gold Fields’ leadership is expected to participate in high-level panel discussions at the forum, sharing industry perspectives on aligning mining policies, mobilising investment and strengthening intra-African minerals trade.
The discussions will also examine how mining companies can sustain production while increasing local economic participation and supporting the development of regional processing infrastructure.
AMPF–MiM 2026 will bring together governments, investors and industry leaders to discuss policy coordination, infrastructure development and strategies to strengthen regional mineral value chains.

With Africa home to approximately 35 gold-producing countries, the forum seeks to provide a continental platform for stakeholders to address opportunities and challenges shaping the gold industry.
The event comes as Ghana prepares for President John Dramani Mahama’s anticipated chairmanship of the African Union in 2027, offering an opportunity for the country to facilitate discussions among African governments and industry leaders on minerals, industrialisation and regional economic integration.
