The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced October 20, 2026, as the start date for nominations in its upcoming National Executive Elections, urging prospective candidates and party members to comply with the requirements governing the process.
The party said nominations would open at 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 20, and close at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 21.
The announcement, contained in a press release dated October 16, signals a key step in the party’s preparations to elect its national executive officers.
The NDC said the nomination exercise would proceed in line with its general election timetable issued on August 5, 2026.
“This marks an important stage in the Party’s electoral process, and all members who intend to contest for the various National Executive positions are encouraged to take full advantage of the process within the prescribed period,” the statement said.
As part of the arrangements, the NDC has directed that payments for nomination forms and filing be made through its designated online portal, Mobile Money on all networks, or Visa and MasterCard.
It warned that bank payments and bank drafts would not be accepted.
The party has also made good standing and payment of membership dues compulsory for aspirants and those required to propose, second or endorse nominations.
Members who have outstanding dues are expected to settle them through the party’s designated payment channels before participating in the process.
“The Party urges all aspirants and members to conduct themselves with discipline, decorum and respect for the Party’s democratic values throughout the electoral process,” the statement said.
The party added that the cooperation of its members would be critical to ensuring a transparent and peaceful exercise.
The 2026 National Executive Elections form part of the NDC’s internal democratic process for selecting officials to oversee the party’s national administration and organisation ahead of the 2028 election.
