France is seeking to expand its investment footprint in Ghana, with the French government looking to attract more French businesses into the country as part of efforts to deepen economic cooperation between the two nations.
The renewed push comes against the backdrop of President John Dramani Mahama’s official visit to France in April 2026, during which he held bilateral discussions with French President Emmanuel Macron on expanding trade and investment cooperation, alongside opportunities in agriculture, artificial intelligence, healthcare and infrastructure.
Speaking on GHOne TV’s Inside Diplomacy with host TUTUWAA DANSO, French Ambassador to Ghana, Her Excellency Diarra Dimé-Labille, said attracting more French investors and companies into Ghana remained a key priority of her diplomatic mission.
She said President Emmanuel Macron’s vision was to strengthen France’s partnerships with key African countries, including Ghana, across sectors that reflect the development priorities of both nations.
The Ambassador disclosed that more than 60 French companies are currently operating in Ghana, with French direct investment in the country exceeding four billion.
She expressed hope that the investment figure would increase before the end of her tenure, stressing that Ghana’s economic potential presented significant opportunities for French businesses.
According to her, attracting more French companies to invest in Ghana would remain a major focus of her work and that of her team.
She identified technology, education, agriculture, energy and environmental development as some of the sectors offering opportunities for stronger collaboration between the two countries.
The Ambassador indicated that these areas would continue to receive attention as France works towards expanding its investment presence and strengthening economic ties with Ghana.
Her comments reinforce the investment ambitions underpinning the renewed diplomatic engagement between Accra and Paris, as Ghana seeks to attract foreign capital, expand private-sector partnerships and create opportunities for economic growth.
