A fire broke out on Thursday afternoon at a Chinese shopping mall located at Santasi Star Junction, near the Santasi Roundabout, in Kumasi.
The cause of the blaze remains unknown, but eyewitnesses reported that it started shortly after 3 p.m. Firefighters from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) were promptly deployed to the scene and are working to bring the situation under control.
Thick smoke was seen billowing from the building as shop owners and residents looked on helplessly. It is not yet clear if there have been any casualties or the extent of the damage caused by the fire.
Authorities have cordoned off the area to prevent congestion while emergency teams battle the flames. Some nearby businesses have been temporarily closed as a precaution.
Officials from the GNFS are expected to investigate the cause of the fire once it has been fully extinguished.
