Anti-corruption agencies have uncovered a massive financial scandal involving Kwabena Adu-Boahene, linking him to alleged fraudulent transactions and the acquisition of high-value properties in Ghana and abroad.
The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has been tracking his financial activities, revealing millions of cedis in suspicious transactions and multiple real estate purchases.
Investigations suggest that Adu-Boahene and an associate, Angela Adjei-Boateng, have acquired a string of properties since 2018, allegedly using illicit funds. These properties include luxury homes in Accra’s upscale Mayfair Estates, as well as real estate abroad.
The properties identified so far include No. 2 Stream Part Drive, Mayfair Estates, LA, Accra, estimated at $1,000,000 (GHC 15,000,000), No. 6 Edith Avenue, Mayfair Estates, LA, Accra, purchased with an initial cash deposit of $500,000 to acquire five houses, No. 7 Edith Avenue, Mayfair Estates, LA, Accra, estimated at $200,000, No. 8 Edith Avenue, Mayfair Estates, LA, Accra, estimated at $97,815, No. 9 Edith Avenue, Mayfair Estates, LA, Accra, estimated at $270,000, No. 10 Edith Avenue, Mayfair Estates, LA, Accra, estimated at $150,000, Vertex Properties, Oyarifa Gated Estate Development, which includes 27 houses valued at $295,000 each, totaling GHC 127,000,000, as well as two properties in London whose values have not been disclosed.
EOCO’s investigation has also uncovered significant transactions that point to financial misconduct, including withdrawals and deposits from bank accounts linked to Adu-Boahene.
Similarly, the Skytrain project scandal has exposed a $2,000,000 payment approved without proper board authorization. The CEO, Solomon Asamoah, has since fled to Senegal, after first being tracked to South Africa.
