Deputy Attorney General, Alfred Tua Yeboah has indicated that the Office of the Attorney General is in full support of the request by the first accused in the ambulance trial, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson to have the case broadcast.
The Minority Leader in Parliament, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has through his Lawyers, petitioned the Chief Justice, Her Ladyship Justice Torkornoo, requesting a live broadcast of proceedings in the ongoing Ambulance trial.
According to the Minority, the request is in the interest of transparency and accountability in order to advance the course of justice for all parties in the trial.
However, speaking with GHOne TV on the back of the request, Deputy Attorney General Alfred Tua Yeboah said that the Attorney General’s Office is in support of the demand.
He also added that if the request is granted, then the hearing of the case must be done on a day-to-day basis to allow for an expedited adjudication.
“We have no objection to the request because we believe in transparency, we believe in accountability, we believe in fairness and openness. So if the first accused person decides that this matter be telecast live on TV and the CJ is minded to grant same we have no objection.
“Because, the Attorney General has on many occasions intimated that matters of political interest may if possible be telecast live for people to also know first-hand assessment of the proceedings. This will help in curing misinformation or injurious reports. But we are also saying if we are going to have this one broadcast live, we have no objection to it. We are also asking that we have day-to-day hearings so that we can expedite this matter,” he noted.
