The Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) and other unions have staged a walkout from Organized Labour’s crucial meeting.
The labour groups were set to deliberate on plans for a potential nationwide strike scheduled for tomorrow Thursday, October 10, 2024.
The strike was expected to put pressure on the government to act swiftly on labour demands, particularly as illegal mining continues to pose significant environmental challenges.
However, government officials recently announced new measures to curb galamsey, which may have influenced Organized Labour’s decision.
