The Minister of Transport, Joseph Bukari Nikpe has been directed by cabinet to fast-track the deployment of the 100 newly acquired buses for the Metro Mass Transit (MMT) Limited to cushion the effect of rising transport costs on citizens.
According to a statement from the seat of government, Jubilee House, these buses are to be immediately integrated into high-traffic corridors across the country.
Cabinet also directed the state-run buses to maintain lower fare structures compared to private transport operators as it is meant to ensure maximum relief for commuters.
The Government of Ghana, through the MMT, took delivery of the first batch of 100 out of 300 new 29-seater buses procured to address public transport challenges across the country.
