Chairman Wontumi is empty and unnecessarily noisy – Kwame Zu

The opposition National Democratic Congress in the Ashanti region has described as ignorant and vile, assertions by the Ashanti Regional chairman of the governing New Patriotic Party Bernard Antwi Boasiako who claims to have some awesome powers to control who gets elected as regional and national executives of the opposition NDC.

The vociferous party chairman otherwise known within political circles as Chairman Wontumi has stated publicly on several media outlets, his ability and resolve to ensure that the National Democratic Congress elects weak executives to steer the party’s affairs into a 2020 and 2024 national election defeat.

Rubbishing the claims of the chairman who has arrogated unto himself a governor status in the region, the newly elected Ashanti Regional Secretary of the NDC, Kwame Zu pointed out that “the boast smacks of ignorance and emptiness.”

He told Ultimate News, “The gentleman has lost focus. He is frustrated and confused. Apparently, he is trying to level some allegations and thrive on a very fundamentally flawed and amateurish political strategy that he has chosen executives for the NDC.

He insisted, it is very ridiculous for anybody to conceive such a thought much less execute same. Wontumi thrives more on noise and extreme aggression in the media whiles we do a lot of strategy so you can tell there is a sharp dichotomy between his style and his way of appreciating issues.”

Demanding proof, Kwame Zu dared chairman Wontumi, “I am telling you on authority that if the NPP through Wontumi has any evidence whatsoever that suggests that the current regional executives in the Ashanti region of the NDC have been chosen by them financially or through any other means, they should make it public.”

Zu further challenged Mr Antwi Boasiako to rather focus his efforts at rebuilding what he described as his lost popularity among his fold making references to the effort it took to re-elect Mr Antwi Boasiako as Ashanti regional chair of the NPP.

“Even within the ranks of the NPP chairman Wontumi is no longer popular because they need strategy thinkers who can drive the party forward and not noise makers. If Asare Badiako had contested him at Ejura, he Wontumi would have lost. They literally pled with Asare Badiako to step down for Wontumi whose voice is no longer useful within the ranks of the NPP to stand unopposed.”

Kwame Zu thanked the delegates and leaders of the National Democratic Congress for reposing trust in them to lead the charge for the party in the strong hold of the New Patriotic Party and gave his word to deliver on the mandate entrusted in their custody.

He told Ultimate News’ Ivan Heathcote – Fumador, the mandate they have entrusted into our hands to man the affairs of the party for the next four years and more importantly into elections 2020; will be guarded jealously and we shall labour sweat and blood to give meaning to their decision to elect us as regional executives.”

He also commended the Electoral Commission and the Security services for conducting successful elections for the party in the Ashanti Region.
