Former Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Charlotte Osei, Multiple Award-Winning Nigerian Actress, Omotola Jalade Ekeinde and Award Winning South African Sports Journalist, Julia Stuart, are set to grace the first ever Women of Valour conference in Accra on March 7, 2023.

The Women of Valour (WoV), a creation of General Manager of the EIB Network and Award-Winning Journalist, Nana Aba Anamoah and to be held every 7th March, a day before International Day for Women, is to highlight women with unique stories of courage.

Speaking at the launch of the 2023 edition, Nana Aba Anamoah revealed that the Women of Valour project is an idea that has blossomed after a decade of planning.

“It’s an idea a have been mauling over for 10 years, and people who know me truly well know that I am a big fan of procrastination, not because I am lazy, but because I like to think and think thoroughly through an idea. And so, for 10 years, every single year before international women’s day, I tell myself maybe it is time to do women of valour and sometimes comes up and I change my mind” Nana Aba Anamoah disclosed.

Nana Aba Anamoah would then reveal how her leave in December would be the beginning of her 10-year dream being into fruition.

“In December, I went on leave because I needed a break. And in the middle of one night, I received an epiphany and I just knew that this is it, 2023 I was going to roll out women of valour. And the moment I got that epiphany I knew that there was not going back”, she added.

WoV 2023 will have Oboubia Darko-Opoku, a business and communications professional, Sika Goka, a certified Etiquette Coach and Charlotte Osei, former EC Chair speaking on various topics as an appetizer on the event, with Actress, Omotola Jalade Ekeinde, Supersport’s Julia Stuart and Children’s Rights activist, Eugenia Baffour Bankoh, as main speakers.

Explaining the rationale and choice of speakers, Nana Aba Anamoah, intimated how the speakers each have unique stories which have never been told.

On the future plans of the project beyond the one-day event on 7th March, spokesperson of Women of Valour, Naa Dedei Tettey explained there is an aspect of mentorship in the project that was being explored.

“We are not just looking at having the ladies gather here and have a conference and end there , we are also exploring instances where we will pay visit to senior high schools and talk to young ladies” Naa Dedei Tettey revealed.
