The management of the Coconut Grove Hotel Accra has announced that they are back in business barely a month after portions of the hotel were razed down by fire.
Portions of the two-star hotel on April 22, 2017 were gutted by fire and it took personnel of the Ghana Fire Service hours to bring the inferno under control.
Reflecting on the unfortunate incident Wednesday in an interaction with journalists at the premises of the hotel, Ralph Ayitey, the hotel’s General Manager disclosed that the hospitality centre is in full operation.
“We are back,” he said despite the unfortunate incident, adding that “we have enjoined quite a good patronage since. And we are looking forward to doing better than we were.”
Also he used the opportunity to bemoan the challenges facing the tourism industry in the country.
According to him, Ghana is 6th when it comes to tourism in the West African subregion, 56th on the continent and 122nd worldwide.
This, he said does not augur well for the image of the country and that the tourism ministry should be up and doing in leading a campaign that will ensure the sector harnessed to its potential.
