The Ghana Police Service, through its Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD), will commence full implementation of its automated traffic law enforcement programme, TRAFFITECH-GH, from 1 October 2026.
The police anmounced this in a release signed by Deputy Superintendent of Police and Staff Officer, Richmond Mensah, that the programme forms part of broader efforts to tackle indiscipline on Ghana’s roads and improve compliance with road traffic laws and regulations.
The police explained that TRAFFITECH-GH will deploy cameras and Personal Data Assistant (PDA) devices to detect traffic offences and support the enforcement of road traffic regulations.
“Detected offences will be reviewed, after which Electronic Notices of Violation (ENV) will be issued to vehicle owners or drivers via SMS. Each notice will clearly state the offence committed and the prescribed fine,” the statement said.
The Ghana Police Service therefore urged all motorists, drivers and vehicle owners to comply with road traffic regulations and support the implementation of TRAFFITECH-GH.
It insists the measure is intended to promote safer roads and reduce road traffic crashes and casualties.
