A team of officials from the Coastal Development Authority (CODA), led by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Lawyer Jerry Ahmed Shaib, on Monday, 15th June, 2020 distributed thousands of facemasks and hand sanitizers to traders, drivers, hawkers and commuters among others at markets and lorry parks in Accra.

In all, 50,000 facemasks and 10,000 hand sanitizers were distributed to the public in these places.

Speaking with the media, the CEO emphasised the need for all Ghanaians to comply with the mandatory wearing of facemasks as directed by His Excellency the President.

He commended recipients of the items for observing social distancing during the distribution exercise, considering the intensity of human activity at the lorry parks.

Kufuor Bus Station
At the Kufuor Bus Station near Tema Station, the CEO led the team to distribute the PPEs to drivers, mates and commuters in buses as well as hawkers, petty traders and buyers at the station.

The team also distributed PPEs to traders at Kwasia Juaso, the Ghana School of Law stretch, Makola Shopping Mall and Tema Station. While distributing, Lawyer Jerry Ahmed Shaib insisted that recipients wore their masks immediately.

Kwame Nkrumah Circle
The team later proceeded to the Kwame Nkrumah Circle lorry station where the CEO and his group were assisted by officials of GPRTU to distribute facemasks and hand sanitizers to the GPRTU Secretariat, drivers, mates, commuters and traders.

The CEO praised recipients for cooperating and adhering to social distancing measures during the distribution.
